You guys talk about the fact that you didn’t talk about “Dances with Wolves” but I think it might be worth discussing. I recall the movie fondly, and I believe we watched it multiple times, I think we had the VHS. I suspect that it probably has framed some of my thinking or conceptions of American Indians. I wonder how it would do with today’s “woke” audiences? Or if it would be perceived as total garbage- both for the themes as well as the idea of a white guy playing the role of another race.
(And yes, I realize that I am a bit peeved by the term woke and probably will begin using it as a derogatory similar to snowflake of previous years.)
Interestingly enough, I posted this article that I found recently to our discord channel (https://screenrant.com/90s-movies-timeless-aged-poorly/) which lists Dances with Wolves as one of those movies that hasn’t aged poorly. I actually haven’t seen it, which played a role in why I didn’t discuss the movie. 🙂
