World of Warcraft: Legion – Midterm Report

April 20, 2017

Some corrections (4/21/17): One of the perils of taking a while to write an article is that references to time quickly become inaccurate. Mass Effect: Andromeda released on 3/21/17, which is obviously more than a week from when this article went live. Also, since I didn’t fully read the patch notes, I didn’t realize the new raid instance, The Tomb of Sargeras, is actually unavailable, and will be unlocked sometime…

Game Review: Star Wars Force Arena is an OK Way to Pass Some Time

March 9, 2017

I generally am not into mobile games. While I do play some games on my phone, it’s generally either Hearthstone or the World of Warcraft Legion App, both of which are tied to the PC in some way. I did play Fallout Shelter for a bit, but got frustrated with its quirks that made for some confusing moments. Generally, whenever I happen to try a mobile game it goes like…

Injustice 2 Trailer Impressions: The DC Universe Actually Gets Interesting

January 26, 2017

I generally don’t consider myself a fan of the DC Universe at large. That changed a bit when the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us was released in 2013. While it is on the surface playing on the overused trope of “yet another alternate reality story” it does center on a rather interesting premise: what if Superman just totally lost his shit and decided to take over the world? It’s quite…

RIP Xbox Fitness (Challenge)

December 16, 2016

Well, the Xbox Fitness Challenge is over. Not entirely. In a bizarre decision from Microsoft, despite the official “sunset” date being on June 30, 2017, the Xbox Fitness team has discontinued two of its oldest, most varied and most substantive workout routines over 6 months early: Mossa and 10 Minute Solution. Together, they represent a total of 33 different routines containing workouts ranging from low-impact dance moves to weight-lifting; from…

Every Hearthstone Expansion Arbitrarily Ranked

December 14, 2016

Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, Hearthstone’s eighth expansion, has just been released. We’re nearing the 3-year mark since the game went live and now seems like a good time to take a look at all the expansions released so far and give them a bit of an evaluation. Everything here is completely arbitrary and based on personal opinion. Feel free to file any complaints and/or errors in the comments if you feel…

Xbox Fitness Challenge: Month 2

December 8, 2016

Note: If you want to read more about the challenge kickoff, check out the Xbox Fitness Challenge Kickoff post. Now I know why people choose to start exercise and diet changes as New Year’s resolutions instead of kicking it off in November. I absolutely don’t want to make excuses, but here are the “challenges” that I faced sticking with my plan for November: The change of season means coming down with…

Xbox Fitness Challenge Kickoff

November 3, 2016

For those who don’t know, Xbox Fitness was a free app that was launched with the Xbox One that took advantage of the system’s Kinect peripheral to track the user’s movements and grade how well they were following the exercises and provide helpful advice on how to improve. Users earned Fitness Points for each exercise done, and completing certain challenges rewarded users with stamps that helped them earn new fitness cards….

Game Review: World of Warcraft: Legion

October 27, 2016

Disclaimer: while this is technically labelled as a review (because I’m not sure what else to really call this), I’m not interesting in assigning scores or even give any sort of recommendation. This is simply a reflection and commentary on said game. [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYNCCu0y-Is&w=560&h=315] An odd thing happened to me towards the end cycle of World of Warcraft’s last expansion, Warlords of Draenor. I stopped playing the game. Now, this…
